| I thoroughly enjoyed painting this scene. It is one I am very familiar with---where PCH merges with the I-10 freeway. You enter a dark tunnel from either side, an Alice-in-Wonderland 'rabbit hole,' in which you emerge totally disoriented. In one direction, you leave the seaside to find yourself in a totally urban environment, and just the opposite from the other direction. This painting is made up of symbols for things, and I use my imagination and the language of painting to recreate my experience. |
